Who can benefit from a mosquito misting system?
Any home or business owner concerned about biting insects can benefit from our system. Mosquito misting systems are typically used around: homes, entertainment areas, pools and hot tubs, patios, decks, recreational areas, tennis courts, kennels, outdoor restaurants, entertainment facilities, farms/stables, waste/trash areas or facilities just to name a few.
What is the ProMist Mosquito Control System?
The ProMist Mosquito Control System is a fully-automated misting system that kills and repels mosquitoes, no-see-ums,
aquatic midges (blind mosquitoes) flies, spiders, gnats, fleas, ticks, roaches, wasps and other outdoor insects.
The system is professionally installed around homes and businesses and mists a botanical insecticide derived from the
dried flowers of Chrysanthemum Cineraria folium.
How does the misting system work?
Our system consists of a reservoir, a control unit and a pump that are stationed in a garage, shed or another designated
outdoor area. The system plugs into a regular household outlet and requires no additional or special plumbing. A
programmable timer triggers the system to pump the Pyrethrum or other misting solution through a series of professionally
installed stainless steel anti- drip nozzles which disperse a fine atomized mist. These nozzles are typically installed every
8-12 feet around the perimeter of the home or problem areas. The ProMist Mosquito Control Unit will be programmed
to mist 2 - 4 times per day at 20 - 60 second intervals usually before dawn and after dusk. Our system also includes a
remote control that allows the user to mist between regularly timed intervals plus a battery back-up system that keeps
the timer correct in the event of a power outage.
How many times a day will the system mist?
Two to three times a day for 30 - 60 seconds is typically adequate for most yards.
How long does it take for the system to work?
Your ProMist Mosquito Control System will provide results even after the first misting cycle.
After a week or two the results will be even more dramatic. You will notice remarkably fewer
annoying insects as local breeding population of mosquitoes and target insects are reduced
What sets your system apart from others?
Our patented system is "the original." It has a fully automated digital display panel. It is the only system of its kind to
incorporate a level sensing float switch, agitator, pressure switch and a 3-button remote control.
What are the functions of the remote control?
Our fully digital system's 3-button remote control enables you to turn the system on or off as well as spray in between
programmed mist cycles.
Why do I need an agitator?
Even the chemicals that have emulsifiers, which are designed to keep the products in suspension, separate over time.
With an agitator, the insecticide stays well blended for a consistent, even spray every time.
Do you offer a warranty?
ProMisters automatically offers a 1 year warranty on all parts and labor. Warranty requires all service and refills
to be performed by ProMisters . We also offer a limited lifetime warranty with our full service plan. ProMisters
systems have been professionally engineered and are assembled with the finest components. Our warranty reflects
the system's reliability and our commitment to customer satisfaction.
What does the 100% money back guarantee mean?
If you are not fully satisfied with the system within 90 days of installation, we'll remove the system and give you
a complete refund.
Is ProMisters licensed and insured?
The ProMisters installation and service staff is fully insured, we carry general liability insurance and workers
compensation insurance on our employees. In addition, ProMisters is licensed and governed by the Florida State
Department of Agriculture. But equally importantly, all employees are professionally trained and certified to install
and service ProMisters systems.
How much does the system cost?
Because each application and installation is unique, ProMisters offers a free evaluation and estimate. A mosquito
misting system specialist will inspect the property to access insect problems and availability of existing structures/
landscape conducive to installation. Your system specialist will then custom design and thoroughly review the
installation and operation of your system.
What is Pyrethrum?
Pyrethrum is the botanical insecticide derived from the dried flowers of Chrysanthemum Cineraria folium.
The active plant oil is found mostly in microscopic oil glands around the seed casing in the flower head and
is made up of a combination of six chemical esters known as pyrethrins. The physiological action of pyrethrins
is to both inhibit the mosquitoes from biting as well as cause repellency, immobilization, paralysis and death.
The pyrethrum used in the ProMist Mosquito Control System is heavily diluted into a water-based spray that is
biodegradable and does not leave a residue. For a more thorough explanation of pyrethrum, please visit our
Pyrethrum page.
In what other applications is Pyrethrum used?
Pyrethrum is widely used in horticulture and by organic crop farmers to control leaf hoppers and other insects.
Other uses include post-harvest treatment of fruits and vegetables, shampoos for pets, sprays and fogs for farms
and dairies and to also protect stored food products.
How safe is the Pyrethrum?
Our recommended pyrethrum insecticides are derived from natural chrysanthemum flowers and are considered to
be very low in toxicity. Because it is biodegradable, Pyrethrum has been EPA registered and USDA accepted for
use in food processing facilities. Pyrethrum is also applied to fruits and vegetables like tomatoes post harvest on
the way to market. Pyrethrum is also used in natural indoor bug bombs and flea and tick shampoos /dips for pets.
Pyrethrum is low in toxicity to mammals because they are quickly broken down into inactive forms and pass from
the body in the urine and feces. Despite it's safety characteristics, we recommend avoiding direct exposure during
the misting cycle.
Is Pyrethrum harmful to children or pets?
Pyrethrum insecticides have been used in agricultural and equine applications for a quarter century with no known
harmful effects. No other insecticide can claim such a long record of proven safety towards humans and warm-blooded
animals.
What is the difference between Pyrethrins and Pyrethroids?
Pyrethrins (pyrethrum) are natural insecticides which are derived from the chrysanthemum flower. Pyrethroids are
synthetic (man-made) insecticides which contain petroleum distillates. Pyrethroids are typically used in misting system
applications such as horse barns, dog kennels and severe spider infestations. For example, nozzles installed over the
horse stalls will mist the synthetic pyrethroids (e.g. permethrin) and the horse's coat will be treated. The horse may
then benefit from hours of repellency when going out to pasture. If horses were treated with natural water based
pyrethrins, the product would then biodegrade quickly (e.g. 15 minutes) in the Ultraviolet daylight. County Mosquito
Control Districts incorporate many synthetic pyrethroids in their public mosquito control fogging programs. In most
residential applications, natural pyrethrins are sufficient for controlling insects, so it is not necessary to use synthetic
pyrethroids.
Will the product hurt my plants?
There is a possibility on some sensitive plants (e.g. ferns & azaleas) that are more susceptible to phytotoxicity damage.
We can design your misting system around susceptible plants as long as landscape and structures permit.
What maintenance does the ProMist Mosquito Control System require?
The ProMist Mosquito Control System requires limited maintenance. We offer a full service
maintenance plan that includes automatically scheduled visits and a limited lifetime warranty on
all parts and labor. We also offer a simple refill plan, which requires the homeowner to contact
us once tank is empty to schedule refill service call.
Can I take my system with me when I move?
Yes, although the system may bring a higher home selling price, it can be relocated to another
location however, charges do apply.
What sets ProMisters custom Installations apart from other misting systems companies?
Pro Misters buries nylon tubing in schedule 40 pvc and/or flexible conduit throughout our installations
whenever possible. Some misting system companies save time and money by burying tubing directly
in ground, leaving lines exposed and susceptible to damage from the elements and landscape
maintenance practices.
When installing on wooden material, ProMisters affixes tubing and nozzles with clamps and stainless
steel screws. Some misting system companies save time and money by affixing tubing and nozzles
with staples - which, over time, will corrode and become loose.
How long does it take to install the system?
On average, installations take four hours, but might require as much as several days to install, depending on the size
of the area and the complexity of the system.
